This quintessentially English retreat – set within an elegant garden estate and open all year round – more than meets the highest expectations, and has been awarded four red stars (89%) by the AA.
Conveniently located near the A14 and the A12, and just a stone’s throw from Ipswich, this stunning Grade One 16th century country house boasts spectacular grounds, shared with the adjacent golf club, a small health club and oodles of Georgian character. A walk around the beautiful grounds will also lead you to the vast herb garden, created by Robert Carrier.
The rooms are spacious, homely and individually furnished, although most have open beams, high ceilings and beautiful antique furniture. If you feel like splashing out, the two spilt level suites, The Galley and The Cherry-Orchard, are well-worth the extra. Service, in all cases, is impeccable: staff members are welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.
Licensed for civil ceremonies, Hintlesham Hall is the perfect venue for special occasions. Whether you choose to dine in the glorious Salon, or opt for the cosiness of The Parlour, you’ll experience top quality cuisine that’s great value for money – and you don’t have to be a resident to benefit. Start the day with a handsome, à la carte breakfast, or take a set lunch – great value for money at only £33.50 all inclusive. Alternatively, save your appetite for a scrumptious afternoon tea.
If you’re in a hurry, Harry’s Bar has a ‘casual dining’ menu, offering tasty favourites such as cottage pie and sausage and mash. Perfect for al fresco dining when the weather’s warm, residents can also choose to dine in the privacy of their own room. And if your ambitions are behind the stove, the hotel offers regular cookery courses, allowing guests to learn from the experts.
